Greg can help with your computer from wherever he is. It takes about two minutes: download a small app, then read Greg two codes over the phone.
-
Download the helper app
Windows
Download for Windows- Open the file you just downloaded (it's usually at the bottom or top-right of your browser, or in your Downloads folder).
- If Windows asks "Do you want to allow this app to make changes?", click Yes.
- A RustDesk window opens. It's already set up for Greg; there's nothing to change. You don't need to install it.
Mac
Not sure which? Click the Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says Chip: Apple M…, use the first button. If it says Processor: Intel, use the second. Most Macs from 2021 on have an Apple chip.
- Open the downloaded file and drag RustDesk into Applications. Then open RustDesk from Applications.
- The Mac will ask to allow Screen Recording and Accessibility. Click Open System Settings and switch RustDesk on in each list. (RustDesk may ask you to quit and reopen it. That's normal.)
- Connect it to Greg's server, one time only:
- In RustDesk, click the ⋮ button next to your ID, then Network. If you see Unlock Network Settings, click it.
- Click ID/Relay server, then the small paste icon at the bottom of that box, then OK.

Find your two codes
In the RustDesk window, look at the left side. You'll see an ID and a One-time password:
Your Desktop
Your desktop can be accessed with this ID and password.
ID 123 456 789 Code 1One-time password k7m2qa Code 2Example only. Your codes will be different. -
Call Greg and read him both codes
Read the ID first, then the One-time password, letter by letter. Keep the RustDesk window open. Greg will connect and you'll see a small panel saying he's connected.
Good to know
- You're in control. Greg can only connect while RustDesk is open and only with the codes you give him. You can watch everything he does.
- Ending the session: click Disconnect in the RustDesk panel, or just close RustDesk.
- The password changes once it has been used, so the same codes won't let anyone in again.
- Private: connections go through Greg's own server, not a third-party service.
- Only give these codes to Greg. Never read them to someone who calls you out of the blue claiming to be from Microsoft, Apple, your bank or "tech support".
